 The first time I heard this song, is from the first season of "Mad Men". Don and his lover (at that time) were in a bar where there're some "poets" and "artists". Don wanted leave the place where his appearance is like a square peg in a round hole. Midge, his lover, said, wait after this man. And then comes this song. This song remind Don of Barbara, the Jewish woman.


She said Zion is another appellation of the Jewish. I know that, in the old testament, we've seen that. This song is a description of the miserable exile of the Jewish.  But let's come to see the promise of God in Bible, Hebrews 12:22 :


"But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly,
